Saudi – News – Rare plant cultivated in Saudi Arabia

l-Jouf region is a unique home to the desert plant of opophytum which grows during rainy season, A number of citizens in the governorate of Dumat al-Jandal succeeded in cultivating the rare plant, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
The owner of the first agricultural museum in Al-Jouf, Sayah al-Sabeelah, said that the first to cultivate the opophytum plant was the late Zaben al-Qa’id more than twenty years ago, citing his experience in cultivating this plant.
Al-Sabeelah called for supporting the cultivation of the plant and to conduct research studies on the feasibility of farming the plant in order to achieve the sustainability of the crop and produce it in large quantities.
