RO 235 million Nama water network project begins in Oman

MUSCAT : The initiative, introduced at a community meeting in Al Dhahirah Governorate, promises to revolutionize water access and infrastructure for over 270,000 residents.

Mohammed bin Hareb Al Makhmari, Director of the project, announced that work began in December 2024 and is slated for completion by the second quarter of 2028. Designed to ensure safe and sustainable drinking water, the project also addresses future needs, aiming to meet water demand until 2050 through enhanced distribution and strategic storage systems.
Key features include 22,000 initial water meter connections, expected to rise to 500,000 by 2050, alongside the construction of 41 ground tanks, 8 overhead tanks, 35 pumping stations, and over 1,700 kilometers of transmission and distribution pipelines. Capacities of these tanks range from 200 cubic meters to 93,500 cubic meters.
In addition to bolstering infrastructure, the project will contribute RO 20 million toward small and medium enterprises (SMEs), create jobs through Omanization initiatives, and foster local industries and services.
