Pathanamthitta woman attacked by husband still on ventilator; arms sewn back to her body

Vidya is on ventilator support and is slowly recuperating.Koodal police nabbed the accused Ezhamkulam native Santhosh on Sunday morning and took him to Vidya’s house in Kalanjoor for evidence collection.

Pathanamthitta: The woman whose arm and fingers were severed by her husband were sewn back to her body in a surgery which began late at night on Saturday at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital. Vidya is on ventilator support and is slowly recuperating.Koodal police nabbed the accused Ezhamkulam native Santhosh on Sunday morning and took him to Vidya’s house in Kalanjoor for evidence collection.

Vidya’s relatives said that the attack was pre-meditated and Santhosh chopped off Vidya’s arms in front of their five-year-old son. It was later found that Santhosh was also carrying acid with him intending to kill Vidya.

Santhosh’s wife Vidya was living at her house in Kalanjoor for the past 5 years after separating from him. Santhosh reached Vidya’s house on Saturday at around 9 pm. He attacked her and chopped off her hands with a machete. He also cut her hair and inflicted injuries on her head. The accused also attacked Vidya’s father Vijayan. Vidya and her father are admitted to Thiruvananthapuram hospital. Santhosh married Vidya six years ago and lived together for a year before deciding to part ways. The divorce case of the couple is proceeding in a family court here. The success of the surgery can can only be determined after a day.
