Thrissur: The funeral of veteran playback singer P Jayachandran (80), who passed away on Thursday, will be held on Saturday. On Saturday, public homage will continue at Paliam Tharavadu in Chendamangalam from 9 am, followed by cremation at 3 pm at the Paliam Tharavadu crematorium.
Jayachandran collapsed at his residence in Punkunnam around 7 pm and was rushed to Thrissur Amala Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7.54 pm. He had been undergoing treatment for cancer at Amala Hospital for the past few years. After a nine-day hospital stay, he was discharged on Friday.
