OQ Becomes First in Oman to Implement Global Procurement Classification Standard

Muscat: In a significant move towards digital transformation and operational efficiency, OQ Group has become the first company in the Sultanate of Oman to fully integrate the United Nations Standard Products and Services Code (UNSPSC) across all its materials and supplier management systems.

This achievement marks a major advancement in modernizing OQ’s procurement processes and strengthening its supplier management practices. By adopting this global classification system, OQ aims to streamline operations, eliminate data redundancies, and foster a more cohesive and efficient work environment.

The integration into OQ’s Tawreed portal represents a transformative step in the company’s supply chain operations. It standardizes material classification, simplifies procurement procedures, improves workflow efficiency, and facilitates accurate supplier evaluation. The system also enables more precise spending analysis and supports the development of cost-effective sourcing strategies in line with international best practices.

Sabrina bint Fadhel Al Bakri, Chief Financial Officer at OQ, highlighted the milestone as a testament to the company’s ongoing commitment to innovation and corporate excellence. “This integration reflects a strategic shift that enhances operational performance and reinforces OQ’s dedication to transparency and effective governance,” she said.

She further noted that the project is a key deliverable of OQ’s digital transformation roadmap and aligns with the strategic objectives of Oman Vision 2040, which promotes the adoption of smart systems and transparent governance across industries.

This initiative cements OQ’s position as a leader in implementing cutting-edge solutions and contributing to the growth of Oman’s business ecosystem.
