Muscat : Oman’s Ministry of Labour has reaffirmed that employees required to work on the Hijri New Year holiday are entitled to appropriate compensation in accordance with the country’s labour laws.
The holiday had already been officially declared for employees in the State’s Administrative Apparatus, public legal entities, and private sector establishments. However, the Ministry clarified that essential services may continue to operate if necessary.
In such cases, employers are obligated to provide compensation—either through additional pay or an alternative day off—as mandated by Oman’s Labour Law.
The Ministry also extended its warmest congratulations to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and conveyed best wishes for continued progress, prosperity, and peace for Oman and the wider Muslim world on the blessed occasion of the Islamic New Year 1447 AH.
