Oman records 2.2% decrease in births, 3.1% increase in deaths

Muscat : The Monthly Statistical Bulletin released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) indicates that a total of 69,561 births were recorded in 2024. While Omani births declined by 3.7 percent, expatriate births saw an 11.8 percent increase.

The report also highlights a gender imbalance among Omani births. Male births decreased by 4.3 percent, while female births dropped by 3 percent. Among expatriate births, male childbirths increased by 12.7 percent, compared to a 10.7 percent increase in female childbirths.

Conversely, the number of deaths in Oman increased by 3.1 percent in 2024, reaching 9,264. Omani deaths rose by 2.6 percent to 7,413, with a 5.8 percent increase among males and a 1.7 percent decrease among females.

Expatriate deaths saw a more significant increase of 5.5 percent, with male deaths rising by 4.2 percent and female deaths by 10.7 percent.
