Oman joins regional effort to strengthen cybersecurity at Arab Ministers’ Council meeting

SAUDI ARABIA : The event, hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, brought together high-ranking officials from across the Arab world, including Their Excellencies, Highnesses, and the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States.

Oman’s delegation was led by His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Amer Al-Shaidhani, Undersecretary for Communications and Information Technology at MTCIT.
The Council deliberated on several pivotal topics, including its statute, appointing key leadership roles, and developing an Arab Cybersecurity Strategy. Discussions also focused on the structure and mechanism of the Council’s operations and initiatives to enhance the Arab region’s cyber resilience. A logo and identity for the Council were also unveiled.
Speaking on the occasion, His Excellency Dr. Al-Shaidhani underscored the importance of the Council, stating, “The establishment of the Council of Arab Cybersecurity Ministers comes as a continuation of the efforts and initiatives that have proven their effectiveness and contribution to achieving the desired development and integration to enhance joint efforts to confront the increasing challenges in the world of cybersecurity and protection from risks and threats, while at the same time taking advantage of the accompanying opportunities to enhance the digital economy and develop innovation.”

He further highlighted the economic potential of the cybersecurity industry, emphasizing, “Investing in the cybersecurity industry and localizing this industry can contribute to creating a safe digital economy and an attractive and innovative business environment.”
