Oman eases lockdown

Oman will end its night lockdown at 5am on October 24, said the Supreme Committee tasked with tackling developments resulting from Covid-19. The lockdown which started on October 11 was from 8 pm to 5 am to control rise in infections.

The Supreme Committee also held a meeting under the chairmanship of HE Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal al-Busaidi, Minister of Interior, and announced that schools will be opened for blended learning on November 1.
Oman reported 451 new cases on October 22, taking the total number of infections to 111,837. Oman also reported 10 new deaths taking the total death toll to 1,147.

A total of 97,949 people have so far recovered from the deadly infection.

Oman celebrates 11th Women’s Day

Meanwhile, on October 17, Oman’s first lady HH Ahad bint Abdullah bin Hamad Al Busaidiyah made her debut appearance as the Sultanate marked National Women’s Day with a series of honours.

The wife of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said hosted a royal palace ceremony to honour 50 prominent Omani women for their work in society and the economy.
