Mollywood star Nivin Pauly has won the Best Actor award for Moothon at the New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF). The film swept a total of three awards at the fest. While Sanjana Dipu won Best Child Actor for her role in the movie and the film has also won an award under the ‘Best Film’ category.

The film tells the story of a clever orphan boy, whose life takes an unexpected turn when he decides to set out in search of his elder brother who ran away to Mumbai.
Featuring a bilingual narrative in Malayalam and Hindi, this powerful film has been written and directed by Geetu Mohandas and filmmaker Anurag Kashyap wrote the Hindi dialogues.
Meanwhile this is Geetu’s third project as a filmmaker and first full-length film as a dialogue writer. The movie stars Nivin Pauly in the lead with Sobhita Dhulipala, Roshan Mathew, Shashank Arora, Harish Khanna and Omkaar in supporting roles.
Garggi Ananthan won the Best Actress award for the film Run Kalyani Run. Directed by Geetha, this movie tells the tale of a young woman who works as a cook and lives with her ailing aunt.
NYIFF began from July 24 and ended on August 2. The fest screened feature and non-feature films in various Indian languages including Assamese, Bengali, Haryanvi, Hindi, English, Ladakhi, Maithili, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali and Tamil.
