Muscat : The two-week event brings together 43 government and private sector entities and targets a range of vital sectors, including energy, minerals, construction, electricity, water, health, and the military and security sectors.
The primary goal of the lab is to develop a comprehensive roadmap to enhance local content across these sectors. This will involve assessing sector priorities, identifying opportunities, challenges, and solutions, and providing studies and analyses of the current situation to ensure the roadmap is adaptable to future changes.
His Excellency Engineer Badr bin Salem Al-Maamari, Secretary General of the Tender Board, in his opening remarks, highlighted the significance of the lab’s work, noting that it would empower local companies to participate more effectively in large projects. This, he explained, would increase the competitiveness of local businesses and open up broader growth opportunities, all while focusing on knowledge and technology transfer to the domestic market.
The Head of the National Office for Local Content emphasized that the lab’s objectives are ambitious, including the creation of a national strategy for local content, the development of detailed action plans, and the launch of national initiatives. These initiatives, he added, are designed to support economic growth, innovation, and development by implementing high-impact projects that contribute to the country’s overall prosperity.
