Modi nominates MA Yusuffali to Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award Jury Committee

NRI businessman and Lulu Group Chairman M.A. Yusuffali has been nominated to the Jury Committee of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Samman Awards to be awarded during the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2021 to be held in the first week of January 2021. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has nominated five people from different walks of life, including Yusuf Ali, to the award jury. The order was published in the Official Gazette.

Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2021 is being celebrated online for the first time due to the spread of COVID-19. The Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award is given to overseas Indians who have excelled in various fields in India or abroad.

In addition to Yusufali, Princeton University Professor of Mathematics Majnulal Bhargava, Uganda Kiboko Group Managing Director B.S. Ramesh Babu, Antar-Rashtriya Sahayog Parishad (Indian Council for International Co-operation) Secretary Shyam Parande and Intel India Country Head Nivruti Rai are the other nominees.

The Jury, chaired by the Vice-President, consists of members nominated by the Prime Minister, as well as the Union Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Home Secretary, the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister. The first meeting of the jury, which joins online this month, will begin the process of finding the award winners.
