Dubai: A 4.0-magnitude earthquake was recorded in the Arabian Gulf on Friday, approximately 55 kilometers east of the city of Jubail, the Saudi Geological Survey announced.
The tremor, which was detected by the Kingdom’s National Seismic Monitoring Network, was classified as minor and did not result in any damage or impact on Saudi territory, authorities confirmed.
In a statement, the Geological Survey attributed the quake to tectonic stress along ancient fault lines in the Gulf region, linked to the ongoing movement of the Arabian Plate and its collision with the Eurasian Plate—a natural geological process that occasionally triggers low-intensity seismic activity in the area.
“There is no cause for concern,” the agency added, emphasizing that the situation remains safe and that no aftershocks have been reported.
