Mandatory Safety Measures for Children in Vehicles: Traffic Department’s Advisory

The General Directorate of Traffic has issued a strong reminder about the importance of ensuring child safety in vehicles. According to their directive, it is crucial to adhere to safety regulations to prevent accidents involving children.

The directive emphasizes that parents and guardians must take responsibility for securing children properly in vehicles. This includes the mandatory use of car seats for children under 10 years old, as well as proper installation and usage of seat belts. The General Directorate of Traffic highlights that improper use of child car seats, such as allowing children to sit without seat belts or incorrectly using side glass windows, poses a serious risk.

Major Abdullah Khalid, Head of Public Traffic Awareness at the General Directorate of Traffic, stressed that the proper use of child car seats can reduce the risk of fatalities in road accidents by up to 70%, according to global health organizations. He also noted that increased vigilance is necessary as accidents involving children on bicycles and e-scooters are on the rise. Children in such scenarios are particularly vulnerable due to their inability to control high speeds.

The General Directorate of Traffic advises all road users to strictly follow these safety measures to prevent accidents. The department urges that these guidelines be observed diligently to ensure the safety and well-being of children on the roads.
