Malappuram police arrest five people for the murder of an expat teenager

The case pertains to the alleged kidnapping of a person, Abdul Jaleel of Agali, who was reportedly a carrier, bringing gold on May 15.

KOZHIKODE: On Saturday, Malappuram police arrested five people for the murder of an expat teenager who was kidnapped near Cochin International Airport and brutally tortured. According to police, the accused tortured Jaleel with an iron rod and knife while he was in captivity, leading to his assassination.Althaf (31) of Aakkaparambu, Rafeeq Mustafa alias Muthu (34) of Aakkaparambu, Anas Babu alias Mani (40) of Edathanattukara, Muhammed Abdul Jaleel alias Alimon (40) of Poonthaanam, and Manikandan alias Unni (38) of Poonthaanam were named.They were arrested in Melattur, Georgia.

On the same day, the accused allegedly took him in a taxi from the airport to Perinthalmanna at noon.The accused toured Perinthalmanna in two cars with the victim until 10 p.m.He was escorted to a deserted spot in Aakkaparambu, where another group, reportedly engaged in hawala activities, joined him.He was then brutally assaulted with iron pipes and sticks there until 5 a.m.

According to investigators, he was also slashed with a knife.Later, he was taken to an apartment owned by Anas Babu in Edathanattukara, Perinthalmanna.The accused assaulted him with iron rods and pipes there for two days.Using a knife, the accused also cut his body.

The group then took medicine from Manikandan’s pharmacy and applied it to his wounds.They then cleaned up the flat and took him to Muhammed Abdul Ali’s house in Pooppalam.The gang assaulted him there.He fell unconscious on the night of May 18th.

He was given glucose and some other medications, but he couldn’t recover consciousness.On the morning of May 18, the accused drove him to a hospital in Perinthalmanna, claiming he was killed by the road and rushed him.According to investigators, the accused fled and the boy died in the hospital on that night around 12 p.m.The accused has been ordered to be put in jail for further investigation, according to police.

The investigation is being carried out by a special squad led by deputy police chief Sujith Das and deputy SP Santhosh Kumar M., as well as deputy SP KM Biju.Inspectors Sharon CS, Sunil Pulickal, and Manoj P, and SIs Siju Thankachan and PK Naushad are among the team’s investigators.
