Kerala’s ‘Cool Mask’ to hit market soon

Web desk 07/06/2020

With a cure or vaccine yet to be discovered for COVID-19, people are forced to wear face masks when they step out of the safety of their homes. This new experience has frustrated many who found the masks irritating, suffocating and frustrating. More often than not, many sweat profusely through the mask, soaking it.

The masks that the Kerala State Textile Corporation has come up with are a solution for this dilemma. The corporation has developed various kinds of mask for use during these trying times. For the common man the corporation has produced Janatha Mask at its spinning mills across the state.

The Suraksha Mask, of which 3 lakh pieces have already been produced, is a five-layered mask of Polyester and Natural Cotton mix that is breathable, dries instantly in case one sneezes, and has micro protection. These are reasonably priced and can be easily washed with soap.

The third mask, labeled the Cool Mask, which the corporation has developed, will give a cool, soothing effect on your face, a first in the world.

The Cool Mask has all the features of the Suraksha Mask and is highly water absorbent. It can be worn for 24 hours and won’t suffocate the wearer. The corporation claims that this is a novel concept developed for the first time in the world.

The Cool Mask is made of high quality cotton and a secret material that Managing Director of Kerala State Textile Corporation K.T. Jayarajan did not wish to reveal as the patent for this is pending.  From the selection of the cotton for the cloth of the material to the end product, the whole process is carried out in a sanitized and safe environment, he said.  The KSTC hopes to export Cool Masks that’s sure to find a market across the world.

The masks were handed over to Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac by Industries Minister E. P. Jayarajan in the presence of K.T. Jayarajan at Komalapuram Spinning Mills in Alappuzha, Kerala on June 6, 2020.

Here is another Kerala Model that’s sure to draw the world’s attention!
