Kerala reports 89 deaths from COVID-19 on May 16

COVID-19 has been confirmed for 29,704 people in Kerala today. The district-wise break-up of the number of affected are Malappuram 4,424, Ernakulam 3,154, Palakkad 3,145, Thrissur 3,056, Thiruvananthapuram 2,818, Kollam 2,416, Kozhikode 2,406, Kottayam 1,806, Alappuzha 1,761, Kannur 1,695, Idukki 1,075, Pathanamthitta 798, Wayanad 590 and Kasaragod 560.

During the last 24 hours, 1,15,982 samples were tested. The test positivity rate is 25.61. A total of 1,79,28,337 samples have been tested so far, including LAMP and antigen testing.

No one from the UK, South Africa or Brazil has confirmed COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. COVID-19 has so far been confirmed by 125 people from the UK (115), South Africa (9) and Brazil (1). Of these, 124 tested negative. A total of 11 people were diagnosed with the genetically modified virus.

It has been confirmed today that 89 deaths in the last few days were due to COVID-19. This brings the total death toll to 6,428.

Today, 218 of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the state, while 27,451 people were infected through contact. The source of the 1,951 contact is not clear. Malappuram 4,277, Ernakulam 3,100, Palakkad 1,694, Thrissur 3,041, Thiruvananthapuram 2,640, Kollam 2,403, Kozhikode 2,345, Kottayam 1,751, Alappuzha 1,758, Kannur 1,566, Idukki 1,005, Pathanamthitta 756, Wayanad 573 and Kasaragod 542 were affected by the disease.

The disease affected 84 health workers. Kannur 16, Thiruvananthapuram 11, Ernakulam, Thrissur 10, Palakkad 9, Kollam, Kasaragod 8, Wayanad 6, Pathanamthitta 4, Kottayam and Idukki 1 each were affected.

A total of 34,296 people who had been diagnosed and treated were cured. Thiruvananthapuram 2989, Kollam 1626, Pathanamthitta 315, Alappuzha 2050, Kottayam 2461, Idukki 697, Ernakulam 4620, Thrissur 2989, Palakkad 2609, Malappuram 4050, Kozhikode 5179, Wayanad 495, Kannur 3000 and Kasaragod 1216 were cured. With this, 4,40,652 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 17,00,528 people have so far been freed from COVID-19.

There are currently 10,43,876 people under surveillance in various districts of the State. Of these, 10,06,759 are under home / institutional quarantine and 37,117 in hospitals. A total of 3,640 people were newly admitted to the hospital.

Today there are two new hotspots. No area is excluded from the hotspot. There are currently a total of 852 hotspots.
