Kerala reports 4,612 COVID-19 cases on Feb 14

Kerala on February 14 reported 4,612 new Covid cases, informed Health Minister K. K. Shailaja. The test positivity rate was recorded at 7.46 percent.

The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Malappuram – 630, Kottayam – 532, Kozhikode – 476,Pathanamthitta – 465, Ernakulam – 439, Thrissur – 377, Alappuzha – 349, Kollam – 347,
Thiruvananthapuram – 305, Palakkad – 169, Kannur – 164, Wayanad – 145, Idukki – 142 and
Kasaragod – 72.

None of the UK returnees tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. So far, 82 UK returneestested positive for the virus infection. 70 of them have recovered. 10 among the patients have beenidentified with the mutant virus strain.

61,843 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. So far,1,05,88,079 samples were tested across various priority groups.

Fifteen deaths were confirmed due to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. The total number of deaths in the state touched 3,985.

104 of the coronavirus patients came from outside the state. 4,173 people have contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 293 persons remains unidentified.

The district-wise statistics of contact cases: Malappuram – 601, Kottayam – 487, Kozhikode – 456,Pathanamthitta – 410, Ernakulam – 418, Thrissur – 369, Alappuzha – 336, Kollam – 333,
Thiruvananthapuram – 223, Palakkad – 90, Kannur – 118, Wayanad – 138, Idukki – 137 and
Kasaragod – 57.

Forty two health workers also tested positive. Among them, 10 were from Kottayam, 6 from Kozhikode, 5 from Wayanad, 4 from Kollam, 3 each from Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta and Kannur, 2 each from Ernakulam, Malappuram and Kasaragod and 1 each from Thrissur and Palakkad.

4,692 recoveries were reported on Sunday. The district-wise statistics of recoveries is:
Thiruvananthapuram – 367, Kollam – 253, Pathanamthitta – 257, Alappuzha – 413, Kottayam – 297,
Idukki – 211, Ernakulam – 640, Thrissur – 452, Palakkad – 302, Malappuram – 315, Kozhikode –
639, Wayanad – 217, Kannur – 280 and Kasaragod – 49.

There are 63,484 active Covid-19 cases in the state. 9,36,398 people have recovered from the
disease. 2,48,669 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 2,38,545 are under home/ institutional quarantine and 10,124 people are in hospitals. 1,237 people were taken to hospitals on February 14.

Six areas were added to the hotspot list on this day while no place was removed from the list. There are currently 460 hotspots in the state.
