Kerala reports 28,447 cases of COVID-19 on April 23

COVID-19 has been confirmed for 28,447 people in Kerala today. The district-wise break-up of the number of infected are Ernakulam 4,548, Kozhikode 3,939, Thrissur 2,952, Malappuram 2,671, Thiruvananthapuram 2,345, Kannur 1,998, Kottayam 1,986, Palakkad 1,728, Alappuzha 1,239, Pathanamthitta 1,171, Kasaragod 1,110, Kollam 1,080, Idukki 868 and Wayanad 812.
As part of the second phase of the test, 2,90,262 samples were collected from different parts of the state on Wednesday and Thursday. Of these, 1,30,617 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is 21.78. A total of 1,48,58,794 samples have been tested so far, including LAMP and antigen testing.
No one from the UK, South Africa or Brazil has confirmed COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. COVID-19 has so far been confirmed by 116 people from the UK (108), South Africa (7) and Brazil (1). Of these, 112 tested negative. A total of 11 people were diagnosed with the genetically modified virus.
It has been confirmed today that 27 deaths in the last few days were due to COVID-19. This brings the total death toll to 5,055.
Today, 315 of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the state. 26,303 people were infected through contact. Contact sources for 1,756 are not clear. Ernakulam 4,477, Kozhikode 3,860, Thrissur 2,920, Malappuram 2,529, Thiruvananthapuram 1,950, Kannur 1,812, Kottayam 1,858, Palakkad 809, Alappuzha 1231, Pathanamthitta 1099, Kasaragod 1061, Kollam 1067, Idukki 838 and Wayanad 792 were affected by the disease.
The disease affected 73 health workers. Thiruvananthapuram 13, Kannur 12, Thrissur 11, Wayanad 9, Kasaragod 7, Kollam, Kozhikode 6 each, Ernakulam, Palakkad 3 each, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam and Idukki 1 each were affected by the disease.
The test results of 5,663 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 711, Kollam 158, Pathanamthitta 153, Alappuzha 127, Kottayam 538, Idukki 227, Ernakulam 572, Thrissur 614, Palakkad 221, Malappuram 529, Kozhikode 1012, Wayanad 219, Kannur 335 and Kasaragod 247 were found to be negative today. With this, 1,78,983 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 11,66,135 have so far been freed from COVID-19.
There are currently 3,91,463 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 3,74,464 are under home / institutional quarantine and 16,999 in hospitals. A total of 3,609 people were admitted to hospitals today.
Today there are 7 new hotspots and three areas were excluded from the hotspot list. There are currently a total of 523 hotspots.
