COVID-19 has been confirmed for 26,995 people in Kerala today. The district-wise breakup of the number of infected are Ernakulam 4,396, Kozhikode 3,372, Thrissur 2,781, Malappuram 2,776, Kottayam 2,485, Thiruvananthapuram 2,283, Kannur 1,747, Palakkad 1,518, Pathanamthitta 1,246, Alappuzha 1,157, Kollam 988, Idukki 931, Kasaragod 701 and Wayanad 614.
As part of the second phase of the test, 1,40,671 samples were collected on Wednesday from various parts of the State. Of these, 1,35,177 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is 19.97. A total of 1,47,28,177 samples have been tested so far, including LAMP and antigen testing.
No one from the UK, South Africa or Brazil has confirmed COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. COVID-19 has so far been confirmed by 116 people from the UK (108), South Africa (7) and Brazil (1). Of these, 112 tested negative. A total of 11 people were diagnosed with the genetically modified virus.
Today, it has been confirmed that 28 deaths in the last few days are due to COVID-19. This brings the total death toll to 5,028.
Today, 275 of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the state and 24,921 people were infected through contact. Contact sources for 1,730 are not clear. Ernakulam 4,321, Kozhikode 3,253, Thrissur 2,760, Malappuram 2,675, Kottayam 2,306, Thiruvananthapuram 1,916, Kannur 1,556, Palakkad 653, Pathanamthitta 1,203, Alappuzha 1,147, Kollam 976, Idukki 888, Kasaragod 668 and Wayanad 599 were affected by the disease.
Sixty-nine health workers were affected by the disease. Kottayam 14, Kannur 12, Thiruvananthapuram 11, Thrissur, Wayanad 7, Kollam 5, Kasaragod 4, Palakkad, Kozhikode 3, Ernakulam 2 and Idukki 1 were affected.
The test results of 6,370 patients who were diagnosed with the disease were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 490, Kollam 416, Pathanamthitta 182, Alappuzha 494, Kottayam 540, Idukki 129, Ernakulam 541, Thrissur 579, Palakkad 266, Malappuram 378, Kozhikode 1298, Wayanad 83, Kannur 390 and Kasaragod 584 were found to be negative today. With this, 1,56,226 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 11,60,472 people have so far been freed from COVID-19.
There are currently 3,55,209 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 3,39,418 are under home / institutional quarantine and 15,791 in hospitals. A total of 3161 people were admitted to the hospital today.
Today there are 13 new hotspots and one area was excluded from hotspot list. There are currently a total of 520 hotspots.
