Kapil Dev undergoes angioplasty, in stable condition

Legendary Indian cricketer Kapil Dev, who captained the Indian team in the 1983 World Cup to win the title has been admitted to hospital following a heart attack. The 62-year-old cricketer underwent an emergency angioplasty, and is currently in a stable state.

“Former Indian Cricket captain Kapil Dev came to Fortis Escorts Heart Institute (Okhla Road) emergency department at 1:00 am on 23rd October with a complaint of chest pain. He was evaluated and an emergency coronary Angioplasty was performed by Dr. Atul Mathur, Director of Cardiology Department, in the middle of the night. Currently, he is admitted to ICU and under the close supervision of Dr. Atul Mathur and his team. Mr. Kapil Dev is stable now and he is expected to get discharged in a couple of days,” said the hospital in a statement.

Popularly known as the Haryana Hurricane, Kapil Dev is widely considered as one of the greatest all-rounders in the history of world cricket. In Test cricket alone, Kapil Dev has scored more than 5,000 runs and has grabbed 434 wickets. He represented India in 225 one-day Internationals, scoring 3,783 runs and picking up 253 wickets.

Even after retiring from International cricket, Kapil Dev continued his contributions to Indian cricket and was appointed as the coach of the Indian national team in 1999.

The news of Kapil Dev’s heart attack has shocked his fans, and they are all praying for his quick recovery.
