Justice system in India in a state of disarray: Katju

Former Supreme Court judge Markandeya Katju has said that the justice system in India is in a state of disarray.

Katju, a former Supreme Court judge, alleged in a video conference on September 11 in a London court that the Indian judicial system was in a state of disarray. Katju said that the Ayodhya case was the most humiliating verdict of the last 50 years.

The former judge has objected to the Centre’s move to extradite Neerav Modi to India. Katju said that Neerav was being sacrificed for the collapse of the Indian economy. Katju told the court that the allegations against Neerav were similar to the attacks on Jews in Germany in the 1930s.

Markandeya Katju told the court that if Neerav Modi were to be sent to India, there would be no free and fair trial. Before the lockdown, the Indian economy and GDP had collapsed. The BJP government has no idea how to revive the economy. Katju told the court that the Indian government was sacrificing people, including Neerav Modi, to escape the crisis. The video conference lasted about 130 minutes.
