Isra Wal Miraj: Oman announces holiday for public, private sectors

Dubai: The Sultanate of Oman has declared a public holiday on Thursday, January 30, 2025, to observe Isra Wal Miraj. The holiday applies to employees in both public and private sectors.The Ministry of Labour clarified that employers may require staff to work, if necessary, provided that compensation is offered in line with labour regulations.
Isra Wal Miraj, also known as the Night Journey or Shab-e-Miraj, holds significant importance in Islamic tradition, commemorating Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) miraculous journey and ascension.

Three-day holiday in Kuwait
In Kuwait, the Civil Service Commission has declared a three-day holiday from Thursday, January 30, to Saturday, February 1, for Isra Wal Miraj.
Although the occasion officially falls on Monday, January 27, the Kuwaiti Cabinet rescheduled the observance to Thursday to provide an extended weekend.

During this period, all government offices and institutions will remain closed, resuming operations on Sunday, February 2.

To ensure uninterrupted public service, essential service providers will adjust their holiday schedules as needed.
This move reflects the government’s commitment to balancing religious occasions with practical considerations.
