India’s coronavirus infection tally climbed to 1,08,92,746 with 12,143 new cases in a day, while 1,06,00,625 people have recuperated so far pushing the national recovery rate to over 98 per cent on Saturday, according to Union Health Ministry data.
In the last 24 hours, 103 people succumbed to the disease while 11,395 were discharged from hospitals, according to the health ministry.
With this, the death toll due to the contagious virus has reached 1,55,550 in India and the active number of Covid-19 cases stands at 1,36,571 in the country.
In addition, so far 79,67,647 people have been administered coronavirus vaccine under India’s mega Covid-19 vaccination drive, the ministry said.
Despite its huge population, India has succeeded in keeping its “coronavirus-related losses to a minimum” compared to the USA and other European countries, Union minister Praksh Javadekar said recently.
