India’s COVID-19 tally crosses 7 lakh mark

India’s COVID-19 total cases spiked 7 lakh mark on Tuesday with 22,252 fresh cases and 467 fatalities in the last 24 hours. The number of recoveries stands at 4,36,372 in the country, while one patient has migrated. Now the total cases stand at 7,19,665 and the death count at 20,160 reports the Union Health Ministry on Tuesday.

Recoveries in India have shown a steady rise and rate now stands at 61%. There are 2,59,557 active cases in the country. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, over 1.02 crore samples have been tested so far. Over 2.4lakh samples were tested in 24 hours.

Worldwise, India now trails only the United States and Brazil in the number of COVID-19 cases. The United States continues to be the most affected, with 3,039,974 covid-19 cases and 132,961 deaths followed by Brazil which stands at 1,626,071 cases and 65,556 deaths.
