India records 36,594 fresh coronavirus cases, death toll over 1.39 lakh

India has recorded 36,594 fresh coronavirus cases taking the country’s total number of infections to 95,71,559 in the past 24 hours.

Apart from the fresh cases, the Covid-19 death toll has also gone up 540 in the past 24 hours. India’s coronavirus death toll now stands at to 1,39,188.

The number of active coronavirus cases now stand at 4,16,082 while the number of recovered cases is at 90,16,289. The country recorded 42,916 new recoveries in a single-day.

The country is now conducting clinical trials of five Covid-19 vaccine candidates with two of them being indigenous candidates.

The worldwide number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has surpassed 65 million, according to the Johns Hopkins University’s data.

The number of coronavirus cases stood at 65,048,192 on December 3. Besides, over 1.5 million people have died of the virus.

The World Health Organization declared the COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic on March 11. The highest number of cases so far has been registered in the United States, India, and Brazil.
