HH Sayyid Fahd receives officials from International Civil Aviation Organization

MUSCAT : HH Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, today received Salvatore Sciacchitano, President of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and Juan Carlos Salazar, Secretary General of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), who are attending the Civil Aviation Security Conference and the High-Level Ministerial Meeting on the Muscat Declaration on Civil Aviation Security. The conference and the meeting are being held in the Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Civil Aviation Authority.
More than 600 officials and specialists from various ICAO member states are taking part in the conference, being held for the first time outside Montreal.
HH Sayyid Fahd welcomed the guests and expressed the Sultanate of Oman’s appreciation for the constructive role of ICAO in providing security and safety for international air transport. He affirmed Oman’s full cooperation with the ICAO in its efforts to develop and regulate air navigation and upgrade the civil aviation sector in a manner that serves all countries.
The meeting discussed the agenda of the international conference, most notably ways to enhance cooperation between countries in the fields of civil aviation and means of promoting the economic development of air transport. It also touched on efforts to provide support for airlines and better facilities at airports to ensure the safety of passengers.

For their part, the ICAO officials expressed their appreciation for the Sultanate of Oman’s hosting the global conference and commended Oman’s pioneering role in enhancing aviation security at regional and international levels. They lauded the accomplishments made by Oman in the field of constructing modern airports and providing the highest levels of safety for international flights.

The meeting was attended by Eng. Said bin Hamoud Al Ma’awali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, and Eng. Nayef Ali Al Abri, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority.
