Hatta beckons tourists

Our Correspondent

On December 18, Dubai’s new tourist hotspot Hatta had a VIP visitor – His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who cycled and trekked through the beautiful landscape and interacted with people there.

Sheikh Mohammed then shared photos on Twitter and Instagram with the caption: “Tourism in the homeland is support for the people … exploring the homeland is an exploration of identity.”

Hatta is a mountainous town on the border with Oman. The Hajar mountains provides the perfect backdrop for adrenaline-packed activities.
One of the area’s best attractions is the Hatta Wadi Hub by Meraas, which offers a range of fun, outdoor activities for all age groups. The Hatta Wadi Hub in Sufayri is approximately 130 km from Dubai city. The easiest way to reach the site is to drive there yourself. Winter is the perfect time to visit Hatta for hiking, biking, kayaking and other fun and adventurous activities. In summer too, Hatta provides a cool escape from the city’s hustle and bustle. The Hatta Wadi Hub has an incredible range of adventures for adults and children alike. Visitors can try their hand at archery or axe-throwing. Netwalking and ziplining are fun activities that give a good view of the landscape. One can rent a mountain bike and traverse 52 km of trails, go horse riding or try zorbing in which you will roll downhill inside a giant transparent ball. There is the huge 12m-high water slide where you can splash down; there are different heights to suit different clients.

The Hatta dam nearby offers fabulous views, while its serene waters are perfect for kayaking.

For visitors who wish to stay overnight, there are numerous resorts. Camping is possible at Hatta Wadi Hub. There is the Damani Lodges Resort, Sedr Trailer Resorts and Caravan Parks that provide comfortable or luxurious stay. The good news for Dubai Tourism is that resorts are fully booked for the winter season, especially on the weekends.
