Gulf Cup final: 9 chartered flights to carry Omani football fans to rally support for Red Warriors

MUSCAT: Nine flights will carry Omani football fans to Kuwait on Saturday to support the Red Warriors for the final showdown against Bahrain in the 26th edition of Arabian Gulf Cup.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth (MCSY) has made the arrangements in coordination with various public and private sector companies. Meanwhile, the Oman Football Association (OFA) has allocated more than 20,000 tickets for the final.

Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) on Thursday confirmed that it will operate a special flight for its employees to cheer on the national team.
The Rashid Jaber coached Oman reached the final after beating giants Saudi Arabia 2-1. Oman has qualified for the Gulf Cup finals six times, after winning the title twice in the 19th and 23rd editions, and lost the final in the 17th, 18th, and 25th editions.

But coach Jaber is not looking at the previous history of the championship. “You cannot look at the past and decide the final tomorrow. We need to respect our opposition. Bahrain is a strong side, and we need to respect their ability to win games. But our boys are ready for the big game, and we hope to win the Cup,” Jaber said at the pre-match press conference in Kuwait.
