Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a virtual meeting with Google CEO Sundar Pichai on Monday. In a tweet he announced they discussed ways to leverage technology for the benefit of India’s farmers, youngsters and entrepreneurs.
“This morning had an extremely fruitful interaction with @sundarpichai. We spoke on a wide range of subjects, particularly leveraging the power of technology to transform the lives of India’s farmers, youngsters and entrepreneurs,” the Prime Minister tweeted.
During their interaction, Mr.Modi and Sundar Pichai also spoke about the new work culture that is stemming in these times of COVID-19. The two also assessed the challenges the global pandemic has brought to areas such as sports. In the video conferencing, they also discussed about the importance of data security and cyber safety.
“I was delighted to know more about the efforts of @Google in several sectors, be it in education, learning, @_DigitalIndia, furthering digital payments and more,” PM Modi said.
Pichai later thanked him through his Twitter handle and said that the company is looking forward to working alongside the government of India to achieve the shared vision for a Digital India.
Meanwhile, Google CEO Sundar Pichai has announced that they will invest Rs 75,000 crore in India over the next five to seven years to help promote India’s digital economy. The decision was announced while Pichai addressed the sixth annual edition of ‘Google for India’ virtual event and announced the digitisation fund.
Google also announced partnership with Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) . The mission is to enable 1 million teachers and 22,000 schools across India to combine classroom approach with online learning using free tools like G-Suite, Google Classroom , Youtube etc.
