Fourth season of excavations reveals ancient civilizations in Oman

MUSCAT : Preliminary findings from the 2024 digs suggest the site was home to two ancient civilizations during the Early Bronze Age, between 2000-3500 BC. These findings point to a historical timeline linked to the Hafit and Umm Al Nar civilizations, separated by a significant settlement hiatus.

Key discoveries include a settlement featuring a tower, multi-room dwellings, and mass graves, alongside artifacts revealing the site’s vibrant cultural and economic life. Evidence indicates the inhabitants engaged in agriculture, copper smelting, and trade with neighboring communities.
