Forum Calls for Integrated Agricultural System to Boost Food Security in Oman

Muscat : A forum held in North Al Sharqiyah has called for the development of an integrated agricultural system aimed at enhancing green production and ensuring long-term food security in Oman. Participants stressed that such a system would align with national food security goals while supporting sustainable development.

Organised by the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) – North Al Sharqiyah branch, in collaboration with the Oman Agricultural Association and private sector partners, the event was themed “Establishing a Safe Agricultural Environment to Bolster Food Security.”

The forum featured three key working papers:

  1. The national significance of food security and its role in economic stability.
  2. The human and social dimensions of securing a sustainable food supply.
  3. The value of implementing integrated pest management systems to ensure safe and healthy agricultural outputs.

The event was held under the patronage of Mohammed bin Nasser Al Maskari, Chairman of the Board of Directors of OCCI’s North Al Sharqiyah branch. It brought together government officials, agricultural experts, farmers, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders from the agricultural sector.

Participants agreed that integrated systems, modern agricultural practices, and active collaboration between the public and private sectors are essential for strengthening Oman’s food security and promoting environmentally responsible farming.
