Emirates issues travel advisory, warns against poorly packed items and prohibited items

DUBAI: As per the airline’s baggage regulations, travelers can carry or check in up to 15 PEDs, but these must be packed separately and not attached to other devices.

Additionally, smart bags, hoverboards, and mini Segways—all of which contain large lithium batteries—are strictly prohibited from both checked and hand luggage, even if other airlines allow them.
Passengers are also urged to review customs regulations regarding restricted items, including electronics, alcohol, cigarettes, and medication, as rules differ across countries. The airline further highlighted the UAE’s zero-tolerance drug policy, cautioning that even small quantities of illegal substances could lead to severe penalties.
For a smoother travel experience, travelers can use the iDeclare app by Dubai Customs to check and declare permitted goods in advance.

Medication Guidelines

Controlled medications require prior approval from the UAE Ministry of Health.

Uncontrolled and over-the-counter medications do not need prior approval but must be carried with a prescription (up to a three-month supply).
