Muscat : The Sultanate of Oman and Japan concluded high-level air transport talks on April 21–22, 2025, at the headquarters of Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). The discussions resulted in a bilateral agreement granting national carriers from both countries the rights to begin planning direct passenger and cargo flights between their respective airports.
The agreement allows for flights with optional commercial stopovers at intermediate points, providing flexibility in route planning. It also enables carriers to explore cooperative marketing strategies and enter into code-sharing arrangements to enhance connectivity and service offerings.
Eng. Naif bin Ali bin Hamad al Abri, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority, stated that the agreements signed include several key operational matters. National carriers of both countries can now expand their networks, which he said is crucial for aligning with the Sultanate’s efforts to grow air transport traffic and support the rise in tourism and economic activity.
