COVID-19: India vaccinates over 1crore

Union health ministry today said that India has reported 13,193 new Covid-19 cases, 10,896 discharges and 97 deaths in the last 24 hours, even as the nation crossed milestone of one crore vaccinations.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered to healthcare and frontline workers in the country has reached nearly 98.5 lakh, the Union Health Ministry said on Thursday.

A total 98,46,523 vaccine doses were given through 2,10,809 sessions, as per the provisional report till Thursday 6 pm. This includes 62,34,635 healthcare workers (HCWs) who have taken the first dose and 4,64,932 HCWs who have taken the second dose, along with 31,46,956 frontline workers (FLWs) who were administered the first dose.

While the countrywide vaccination drive was rolled out on January16, vaccination of the frontline workers started from February 2.

The total COVID-19 active cases remained below 1.5 lakh. There are 1,39,542 active cases of coronavirus infections in the country which comprises 1.27 percent of the total caseload, the data stated.

A total of 1,56,111 deaths have been reported so far in the country including 51,669 from Maharashtra followed by 12,444 from Tamil Nadu, 12,282 from Karnataka, 10,896 from Delhi, 10,239 from West Bengal, 8,709 from Uttar Pradesh and 7,166 from Andhra Pradesh.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 1,06,67,741 which translates to a national COVID-19 recovery rate of 97.30 percent and the case fatality rate stands at 1.42per cent.
