Confirmed COVID-19 cases in Kerala at 150 on June 26

One hundred and fifty people were confirmed with COVID-19 on June 26. Of those infected 91 had arrived from abroad.
Twenty-three people were infected in Palakkad district, 21 in Alappuzha district, 18 in Kottayam, 16 each in Kollam and Malappuram districts, 13 in Kannur district, seven each in Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur and Kozhikode districts, five in Wayanad district, four in Pathanamthitta district, two each in Idukki and Kasargod districts. Eleven people were infected through contact. Of these, five were in Thirvananthapuram. Sixty-five people were cured of COVID-19. A total of 2,006 people were cured and 1,846 are under treatment. A total of 1,63,944 were under observation in the State. Ambaloor in Ernakulam and Punnppara South are the new hotspots.
In Kannur district six of those infected were CISF personnel and three were army DCS Canteen staff. Two of the CISF staff affected were on duty at the airport.
Of those who arrived from abroad, 50 were from Kuwait, 15 from Saudi Arabia, 14 from UAE, six from Qatar, four from Oman and one each from Sri Lanka and Italy. Forty-eight of those infected in the State had arrived from other States (Maharashtra – 15, Delhi – 11, Tamil Nadu – 10, Haryana – 6, Karnataka – 2, Uttar Pradesh – 1, Telegana – 1, Jammu and Kashmir -1 & Madhya Pradesh – 1).
The number of COVID positive cases was going up day by day. By August it was expected to peak. As the cases go up, arrangements would be made according to Plan –A, B, C that was already in place, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had said.
According to Plan A, 29 COVID hospitals and 20 COVID firstline treatment centre adjacent to the hospitals have been started in 14 districts. Eight thousand five hundred and thirty-seven beds, 872 ICU beds and 482 ventilators were ready for the treatment of the infected. As the number of patients goes up, beds in selected hospitals will be utilised.
