Central Bank of Oman urges public to exchange outdated currencies as deadline nears

Muscat: The Central Bank of Oman (CBO) has issued a public reminder to all customers to exchange specific currencies before the deadline of December 31, 2024. This initiative is part of the bank’s ongoing efforts to streamline currency circulation and ensure compliance with updated monetary policies.

Customers holding outdated or phased-out banknotes are encouraged to visit their nearest CBO branch or authorised exchange centers to complete the process promptly.

The CBO emphasised the importance of adhering to the deadline, as banknotes that are not exchanged by the specified date may lose their legal tender status, making them ineligible for use in transactions.
