After Rajasthan, petrol hits Rs 100/litre mark in MP

There is no relief in sight for vehicle owners near future. Continuing its upward trend petrol and diesel touch new highs across India on February 18.

The petrol price in Delhi was hiked by 34 paise reaching Rs. 89.88 per litre as compared to Rs 89.54 per litre on February 17, according to state-owned fuel retailers. Diesel price in the national capital also touched a new high at Rs 80.27, increasing 32 paise from the previous day.

The retail price of regular petrol hit the three-figure mark on February 17 for the first time when it was hiked by 34 paise to Rs 100.13 a litre in Rajasthan’s Sri Ganganagar, while diesel got dearer by 27 paise to Rs 92.13, according to the data available in Indian Oil Corporation’s website.

Petrol price in Anuppur, Madhya Pradesh also crossed Rs. 100 mark reaching Rs. 100.25 per litre on Thursday. Diesel price also stood at Rs. 90.35 per litre in the region.

The auto fuel prices are revised on a daily basis in line with benchmark international price and foreign exchange rates.

The price of India’s crude oil basket, which comprises of Oman-Dubai sour grade and dated Brent sweet crude, rose 55 cents to $63.19 a barrel on Wednesday, February 17, 2021, as per the data released by Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) today.

Globally, oil prices rose as much as a dollar on Thursday, extending this week’s gains and hitting 13-month highs, as a cold snap sweeping Texas and surrounding regions shut at least a fifth of US refining output and a million barrels of crude production, news agency Reuters reported.
