903 people confirmed with COVID-19 on July 29

Nine hundred and three people were confirmed with COVID-19 on July 29. Kutty Hussan, 68, who was under treatment after having confirmed with the infection died bringing the total number of deaths to 68.

Of the total infected on the day, 706 got the infection through contact and the source of the infection for 35 people is not known. Of those confirmed with the infection 90 had arrived from abroad and 71 from other States of the country.

The district-wise figures of the positive cases are 213 in Thiruvananthapuram district, 87 in Malappuram district, 84 in Kollam district, 83 in Ernakulam district, 67 in Kozhikode district, 54 in Pathanamthitta district, 49 in Palakkad and Kasargod districts, 43 Wayanad district, 42 Kannur district, 38 in Alappuzha district, 34 in Idukki district, 31 in Thrissur district, and 29 in Kottayam district. Among the 30 health workers infected with the virus, 10 each are from Thiruvananthapuram and Kannur districts, six in Ernakulam district and one each in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kozhikode and Kasargod districts.

Two KSE staff in Thrissur and one KLF staff were also infected with the virus on July 29.

The test results of 641 people who were being treated for COVID-19 turned negative on the day. There are 1,47,132 people under treatment in various districts. Of this 1,37,075 people are in house/institutional quarantine and 10,057 people are under observation in hospitals. On July 29, 1.475 people were admitted in hospitals.

While 19 new places were declared as hotspots on July 29, 13 places were taken out of the list of hotspots.
