8,764 confirmed with COVID-19 on Oct.13

COVID-19 was confirmed for 8,764 people on October 13. Twenty-one deaths were confirmed to be due to the infection. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that various protocols including social distance were not observed.

Among those who are Kovid positive are many children under 15 years of age. Parents who leave their children for tuition should be careful. It has been noticed that traders and industrialists and auto workers were getting sick. The disease is spreading to some institutions in Adoor.

The worst affected districts are Malappuram 1139, Ernakulam 1122, Kozhikode 1113, Thrissur 1010, Kollam 907, Thiruvananthapuram 777, Palakkad 606, Alappuzha 488, Kottayam 476, Kannur 370, Kasaragod 323, Pathanamthitta 244, Wayanad 110 and Idukki 79.
Twenty-one deaths have been confirmed as being caused by COVID-19. Francis (68) from Ottamassery, Alappuzha, Gopi (76) from Neerkunnam, Ajayakumar (51) from Vallikunnu, Purushan (81) from Komana, Mary Babu (69) from Mulavukadu, Ernakulam and CS. Pushparaji (38), from Puthuvaippu, Thottakattukara TA Mohammad Ashraf (68), a native of Udayamperoor; Vishwambharan (65), Krishnadas (67) from Malappuram Manjeri, Thayumma (70) from Kodur, Muhammad (87) from Vallilapuzha, Abdurahman (68) from Narikkunni, Kozhikode, Aryan (70) from Balussery, Beeran (47) from Peruvattur, Kannankara Cheriyekan (73), Kunjabdullah (65) from Meppayoor, Syed Abu Thangal (68) from Vadakara, Prabhakar (67) from Avidanalloor, Mammootty (82) from Panniyankara, Amarnath (69) from Eranjoli, Kannur and Abdullah (66) from Chengala, Kasaragod. This brings the total death toll to 1,046. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.

Thirty-six of those diagnosed with the disease are from foreign countries and 85 from other States. 8039 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 528 was not clear. A total of 76 health workers were infected through contact. The test results of 7723 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative.
There are currently 2,82,000 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 2,54,841 are under home / institutional quarantine and 27,159 in hospitals. A total of 2925 people were admitted to hospitals. During the last 24 hours, 48,253 samples were tested. A total of 36,76,682 samples have so far been sent for testing, including routine samples, Airport Surveillance, Pooled Sentinel, CBNAT, Trunat, CLIA and Antigen Assay.

There are 11 new hotspots and 15 areas have been excluded from the hotspot. With this, there were a total of 660 hotspots.
