7,283 confirmed with COVID-19 in Kerala on Oct. 16; 6,767 cured

COVID-19 has been confirmed for 7,283 people. The worst affected districts are Malappuram 1,025, Kozhikode 970, Thrissur 809, Palakkad 648, Ernakulam 606, Thiruvananthapuram 595, Alappuzha 563, Kottayam 432, Kollam 418, Kannur 405, Pathanamthitta 296, Kasaragod 234, Wayanad 158 and Idukki 124.

Twenty-four deaths have been confirmed as due to COVID-19. Marykutty (56) from Kanjirampara, Thiruvananthapuram, Sumathi (48) from Manakkad, Shantamma (80) from Jagathy, Thankamma (84) from Vallakkadavu, Chellappan (71) from Manakkad, Rangan (70) from Kozhencherry, Pathanamthitta, Thomas (73) from Udumbannur, Idukki , Anthony (70) from Nedupuzha, Thrissur, Savita (30) from Peramangalam, Raveendran (80) from Kottuvalli Villa, Premarajan (54) from Kattakampal, Kamu (80) from Chemmanthitta, Asainar (92) from Payyoli, Kozhikode, Padmavathi (82) from Chevayur, Balan (65) from Balussery, Safia (60) from Nettoor, Kannur, VP Ahmed (59) from Kayachira, Nabeesu (72) from Thalassery, KP Aisha (85), from Padappanangad, Nani (60) from Cheruparambu, Abdullah (73) from Chavassery, Hajira Beevi (90) from Udayagiri, Narayanan Nambiar (90) from Pariyaram and Padmanabhan (55) from Kurara. This brings the total death toll to 1,113. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.

Of the total infected 144 were from outside the State and 5,731 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 1,158 was not clear. A total of 250 health workers were infected with the virus.

The test results of 6,767 people who were diagnosed with the disease were negative. There were currently 2,76,727 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 2,51,145 are under home/institutional quarantine and 25,582 are under observation in hospitals. A total of ,2776 people were admitted to hospitals.

A total of 51,836 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. A total of 38,28,728 samples have so far been sent for testing, including routine samples, Airport Surveillance, Pooled Sentinel, CBNAT, Trunat, CLIA and Antigen Assay.

While eight new there are eight new hotspots and eight areas have been excluded from the hotspot. With this, there are a total of 643 hotspots.
