Dubai : The Indian Consulate in Dubai provided services to more than 10,000 non-resident Indians during the general amnesty. The Indian Consulate helps expatriates to obtain amnesty by arranging all the services provided by UAE government systems at the help desk, except for providing biometric documents.
About 10,000 lawbreakers have reached the consulate’s help center so far. Of these, 1300 people were given passports, 1700 people were given emergency certificates and 1500 people were given exit permits.
Most of the rest are travel bans. They cannot leave the country until the cases related to their travel ban are settled. Documents including passports were given to the needy within hours. The consulate has the facility to issue an exit permit to leave the country for overstayed visas. Typing center services are also available here. There are only 7 more days until the amnesty period ends.
Consul General Satishkumar Sivan appealed to anyone to take advantage of this opportunity to do so as soon as possible. Amnesty should be used as soon as possible and not wait till the last minute.
This is an opportunity to legalize documents without incurring fines or other penalties. Indian Consulate’s Help Desk is also functioning at GDRFA’s Al Aweer Centre. The UAE has warned that those who remain in the country without taking advantage of the amnesty will face severe punishment. From November 1, action will be taken against violators.
Those who get amnesty, can legalize their documents and stay in the country or leave the country. There is no lifetime ban as in previous amnesties. Those who get amnesty can return to the UAE according to the law. For those who are interested in staying in the country, the amnesty center itself has the recruiting facility of various companies. Companies can also hire amnesties immediately if they want. The consulate also requested expatriates to cooperate in bringing those who remain law breakers to help centers.
