6,293 confirmed with COVID-19 on Dec.19

COVID-19 has been confirmed for 6,293 people in Kerala on December 19. The district-wise break-up of the number of infected are Ernakulam 826, Kozhikode 777, Malappuram 657, Thrissur 656, Kottayam 578, Alappuzha 465, Kollam 409, Palakkad 390, Pathanamthitta 375, Thiruvananthapuram 363, Kannur 268, Wayanad 239, Idukki 171 and Kasaragod 119.

During the last 24 hours, 59,995 samples were tested. The test positivity rate is 10.49. Routine sample, Sentinel sample, CBNAT, TRUNAT, POCT. PCR, RT A total of 72,93,518 samples have so far been sent for testing, including LAMP and antigen testing.

It has been confirmed that 29 deaths in the last few days were due to COVID-19. The deaths of Ashraf (62) from Kilimanoor, Thiruvananthapuram, Abdul Majeed (80) from Varkala, Leela (65) from Vembayam, Smithamma (75) from Kattakada, AK Sumathi (88) from Madannada, Kollam, Chellappan Achari (86) from Konni, Pathanamthitta, Rasheeda Beevi (59) from Kotankulangara, Alappuzha, Ravi (64) from Chengannur, Rajamma (82) from Cherthala, Pankajakshi Amma (90) from Muhamma, Thomas Daniel (90) from Thalawadi, Gangadharan Nair (73) from Muthukulam, Lailamma (41) from Ettumanoor, Kottayam, Ramachandran Nair (70) from Anicad, Balakrishnan (80) from Neriyamangalam, Ernakulam, PN Joshi (55) from Mulamthuruthy, Aminabi (75) from Kozhikode Arts College, Balan (80) from Vadakara, KP Vasudevan (70) from Poothadi, Wayanad, Aboobacker (65) from Thalassery, Kannur, Shamim (35) from Panur, CV Ibrahim (75) from Cheleri, AND Zahira (60) from Azhikode were confirmed as due to the disease. This brings the total death toll to 2,786. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.

Seventy-three of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside Kerala. A total of 5,578 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 593 was not clear. Ernakulam 644, Kozhikode 753, Malappuram 616, Thrissur 640, Kottayam 560, Alappuzha 447, Kollam 400, Palakkad 208, Pathanamthitta 289, Thiruvananthapuram 291, Kannur 218, Wayanad 237, Idukki 164 and Kasaragod 111 were affected by the disease.
Forty-nine health workers were affected by the disease. Ernakulam 9, Kannur 8, Thrissur 7, Kozhikode 5, Thiruvananthapuram 4, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kasaragod 3 each, Palakkad, Wayanad 2 each, Alappuzha, Kottayam and Malappuram 1 each were affected by the disease.

The test results of 4,749 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 315, Kollam 309, Pathanamthitta 185, Alappuzha 262, Kottayam 462, Idukki 93, Ernakulam 606, Thrissur 442, Palakkad 238, Malappuram 664, Kozhikode 618, Wayanad 157, Kannur 330 and Kasaragod 68 were negative today. With this, 60,396 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 6,36,814 people have so far been freed from COVID-19.

There are currently 2,89,910 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 2,76,377 are under home / institutional quarantine and 13,533 are in hospitals. A total of 1474 people were admitted to hospitals.

There are four new hotspots. The new hotspots are Sooranad North (Cantonment Zone Ward 18) in Kollam district, Veliannur (4) in Kottayam district, Kallara (9) and Kozhuvanal (1) in Kottayam district. Four areas have been excluded from the hotspot list. With this, there are a total of 458 hotspots.
