6,250 confirmed with COVID-19 in Kerala on Nov.26; 25 dead, 5,275 cured

COVID-19 has been confirmed for 6,250 people in Kerala on November 28. The district-wise break-up is Ernakulam 812, Kozhikode 714, Malappuram 680, Thrissur 647, Kottayam 629, Palakkad 491, Thiruvananthapuram 488, Kollam 458, Kannur 315, Alappuzha 309, Wayanad 251, Idukki 178, Pathanamthitta 141 and Kasaragod 137 districts.
A total of 63,983 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is 9.77. A total of 61,78,012 samples have so far been sent for testing, including LAMP and antigen testing.
Twenty-five deaths have been confirmed due to COVID-19. Parvathy Amma (82) from Puthukalangara, Thiruvananthapuram, Venugopalan Nair (75) from Manakkad, Nabeesath (66) from Poonthura, Rajendran (65) from Vilapilsala, Francis Thomas (78) from Chelangari, Alappuzha, Sadanandan (57) from Punnapra, Podiyan (63) from Mavelikkara, Balakrishnan (75) from Aroor, Kanishka (55) from Chengannur, U.Prashanthan (56) from Thrikkunnapuzha, Purushothaman (83) from Kumarakom, Kottayam, MS Saidu (66) from Kodanad, Ernakulam, KK Thilothama (71) from Palluruthy, PJ. Devasya (86) Bhubaneswari Road resident, Xavier (65) from Devagiri, Pankajakshan Pillai (85) from Edassery, Aboobacker (78) from Chavakkad, Thrissur, Balakrishnan (79) from Erumappetti and KJ Susanna (75) from Ollur, Rappai (58) from Alagappa Nagar, Malu (53) from Kunnamkulam, Ratheesh (36) from Malappuram, Ummer (72) from Manjapatta, Rukiya (67) from Karulai and Khadeeja (75) from Karuvampram. This brings the total death toll to 2196. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.
Ninety-two of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the State. A total of 5,474 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 628 is not clear. Ernakulam 602, Kozhikode 665, Malappuram 653, Thrissur 636, Kottayam 623, Palakkad 293, Thiruvananthapuram 375, Kollam 454, Kannur 268, Alappuzha 303, Wayanad 237, Idukki 144, Pathanamthitta 100 and Kasaragod 121 were affected by the disease.

Fifty-six health workers were affected by the disease. Thiruvananthapuram 10, Kannur 9, Kozhikode 8, Kasaragod 7, Pathanamthitta 5, Ernakulam, Palakkad 4 each, Thrissur, Malappuram 3 each, Kollam, Alappuzha and Wayanad 1 each were affected by the disease today.
The test results of 5,275 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 365, Kollam 298, Pathanamthitta 146, Alappuzha 231, Kottayam 512, Idukki 110, Ernakulam 451, Thrissur 405, Palakkad 379, Malappuram 766, Kozhikode 1187, Wayanad 145, Kannur 179 and Kasaragod 101 were found to be negative today. With this, 64,834 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 5,26,797 people have so far been freed from COVID.
There are currently 3,12,251 people under surveillance in various districts of the State. Of these, 2,96,223 are under home / institutional quarantine and 16,028 in hospitals. A total of 1701 people were admitted to hospitals.
There are six new hotspots. Oomannur in Kollam district (Cantonment zone ward 16), Kudayathoor in Idukki district (9 (sub ward), 10), Vazhathoppu in Idukki district (2), Kadapra in Pathanamthitta district (sub ward 15), Vaniyamkulam native of Palakkad district (3, 12), Kanjirapuzha (7) are the new hotspots. Two areas are excluded from the hotspot. With this, there are a total of 530 hotspots.
