Kerala on December 22 reported 6,049 fresh cases of Covid-19, informed Health Minister K. K. Shailaja.
The district wise distribution of positive cases is: Kottayam – 760, Thrissur – 747, Ernakulam – 686, Kozhikode – 598, Malappuram – 565, Pathanamthitta – 546, Kollam – 498, Thiruvananthapuram – 333, Alappuzha – 329, Palakkad – 303, Kannur – 302, Wayanad – 202, Idukki – 108 and Kasaragod – 72.
64,829 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is at 9.33 percent. So far, 74,47,052 samples were tested in different priority groups. 27 deaths were confirmed in the state. With this, the total number of coronavirus fatalities rose to 2,870.
Out of the total number of positive cases, 108 people came from outside the state. 5,306 people contracted the virus through contact. The virus source of 575 cases has not been identified.
The district wise distribution of contact cases is: Kottayam – 729, Thrissur – 720, Ernakulam – 504, Kozhikode – 574, Malappuram – 541, Pathanamthitta – 449, Kollam – 490, Thiruvananthapuram – 244, Alappuzha – 315, Palakkad – 141, Kannur – 249, Wayanad – 193, Idukki – 91 and Kasaragod – 66. 60 health workers tested Covid-19 positive on Tuesday. The district wise cases of Covid positive health workers are: Thrissur – 12, Thiruvananthapuram – 9, Kannur – 8, Kottayam and Palakkad – 7 each, Ernakulam – 6, Kollam – 5, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kasaragod – 2 each.
5,057 people have recovered from the disease. The district wise statistics of negative cases are: Thiruvananthapuram – 320, Kollam – 279, Pathanamthitta – 251, Alappuzha – 212, Kottayam – 474, Idukki – 417, Ernakulam – 414, Thrissur – 606, Palakkad – 265, Malappuram – 709, Kozhikode – 510, Wayanad – 195, Kannur – 306 and Kasaragod – 99.
Currently, there are 61,648 people undergoing treatment in the state. 6,50,836 people have recovered from the disease. 2,79,711 people are under observation across various districts in the state. Out of this, 2,66,178 people are in home/institutional quarantine and 13,533 people are in hospitals. 1,441 people were taken to hospitals on this day.
