6,010 confirmed with COVID-19 on Nov. 10

COVID-19 has been confirmed for 6,010 people in Kerala on November 10. The district-wise numbers of afflicted were Kozhikode 807, Thrissur 711, Malappuram 685, Alappuzha 641, Ernakulam 583, Thiruvananthapuram 567, Kollam 431, Kottayam 426, Palakkad 342, Kannur 301, Pathanamthitta 234, Wayanad 112, Idukki 89 and Kasaragod 81.

During the last 24 hours, 54,751 samples were tested. The test positivity rate is 10.98. A total of 51,85,673 samples have so far been sent for testing, including routine samples, Airport Surveillance, Pooled Sentinel, CBNAT, Trunat, CLIA and Antigen Assay.

Twenty-eight deaths have been confirmed due to COVID-19. Krishnankutty (57) from Perunkadavila, Thiruvananthapuram, Thankarajan Nadar (57) from Nellimoodu, Gerald (63) from Plamuttukada, Madhu (55) from Ooruthambalam, D. Rahila (71) from Chirayinkeezhu, Chakrapani (75) from Pothencode, Thomas (71) from Manjapara, Kollam, K. George (88) from Kannanallur, Zainab Tajudeen (54) from Faridia Nagar, Anitha (51) from Ranni, Pathanamthitta, Ibrahim Kutty (75) from Kottayam, Shanthi (37) from Changanassery, Saydalavi (72) from Koovapalli, Vinukuttan (27) from Kanjirapally, TT. Joseph (77) a native of Murikumpadam, Ernakulam, MK Chandran (72) from Iringalakuda, Thrissur, Sasidharan (67) from Mundur, Johnny (57) from Iringalakuda, Hamsa (70) from Mannarkad, Palakkad, Soumya (35) from Chittilancherry, Thankamma Panikkathiar (84) from Tenkurisi, Fathima (80) from Malappuram, Kozhikode, Nanu (58) from Aroor, Moideen (79) from Kallai, Raveendran (75) from Kannukkara, Mohammad Syed (62) from Taliparamba, Kannur, KP Ahmed (86) from Naduvil, and PK Suleiman (68) a native of Mundallur. This brought the total death toll to 1,742. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.

A total of 100 people who were diagnosed with the disease were from outside the State, while 5,188 people were infected through contact. Contact sources for 653 were not clear.

While 69 health workers were affected by the disease the test results of 6,698 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. There are currently 3,16,359 people under surveillance in various districts of the State. Of these, 2,97,041 are under home / institutional quarantine and 19,318 in hospitals. A total of 2,039 people were admitted to hospitals on the day.

There were 11 new hotspots while seven areas were excluded from the hotspot. With this, there were a total of 616 hotspots.
