COVID-19 has been confirmed for 5,930 people in Kerala on October 12, while the test results of 7,836 people who were diagnosed and treated turned negative. The number of positive cases district-wise is Kozhikode 869, Malappuram 740, Thrissur 697, Thiruvananthapuram 629, Alappuzha 618, Ernakulam 480, Kottayam 382, Kollam 343, Kasaragod 295, Palakkad 288, Kannur 274, Pathanamthitta 186, Idukki 94 and Wayanad 35.
Twenty-two deaths have been confirmed as being caused by COVID-19. Rajan (45) from Thiruvananthapuram, Maya (40) from Kalliyoor, Raveendran (48) from Poovar, Omana (65) from Thattathumala, Krishnan (89) from Manakkad, Panirselvam (58) from Thiruchendur, Lawrence (62) from Wadi, Kollam, Khadeeja Beevi (85) from Thrikkunnapuzha, Alappuzha, Suresh Kumar (53) from Chingoli, Khadeeja Rashid (51) from Palluruthy, Ernakulam, Pareed (45) from Vazhakulam, Ayyappan (82) from Piravom, Shaji Thomas (57) from Bison Valley, Idukki. Pallima (93) from Kallai, Kozhikode; P.P. Khadeeja, 85, and Kunhiraman, 83, of Taliparamba. This brings the total death toll to 1,025. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.
Forty-eight of those diagnosed with the disease were from foreign countries and 86 from other States. A total of 4,767 people were infected through contact. The contact source of 195 people was not clear. A total of 195 health workers were infected through contact.
There are currently 2,81,413 people under surveillance in various districts of the State. Of these, 2,53,104 were under home / institutional quarantine and 28,309 in hospitals. A total of 3,075 people were admitted to hospital on the day.
A total of 38,259 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
A total of 36,28,429 samples have so far been sent for testing, including routine samples, Airport Surveillance, Pooled Sentinel, CBNAT, Trunat, CLIA and Antigen Assay. As part of Sentinel Surveillance, 2,13,108 samples were sent for testing from priority groups, including health workers, guest workers, and individuals with greater social contact.
There were three new hotspots and five areas were excluded from the hotspot. With this, there are a total of 664 hotspots.
