5,420 confirmed with COVID-19 in Kerala on Nov.24; 24 dead

COVID-19 has been confirmed for 5,420 people in Kerala on November 24. Of this 4,693 were cases of local transmission and the source of infection was not traceable for 592. There were 52 medical/para-medics among those infected. At the same time, 5,149 patients have recovered from the disease. Meanwhile, 24 recent deaths were confirmed as due to COVID taking the related death toll in the State to 2,095.

 

A total of 59,983 samples were tested during the last 24 hours and the test positivity rate is 9.04 per cent. Till now, a total of 59,52,883 samples have been sent for testing.

 

The district-wise numbers for the new positive cases are Malappuram 852, Ernakulam 570, Thrissur 556, Kozhikode 541, Kollam 462, Kottayam 461, Palakkad 453, Alappuzha 390, Thiruvananthapuram 350, Kannur 264, Pathanamthitta 197, Idukki 122, Wayanad 103 and Kasargod 99. Of those diagnosed today, 83 have arrived in the state from outside.

 

The figures for those infected through contact in the districts are Malappuram 796, Ernakulam 447, Thrissur 542, Kozhikode 487, Kollam 459, Kottayam 459, Palakkad 234, Alappuzha 372, Thiruvananthapuram 265, Kannur 209, Pathanamthitta 145, Idukki 93, Wayanad 92 and Kasaragod 93.

 

The count for the infected healthcare workers from the districts are Ernakulam 14, Malappuram and Kozhikode 6 each, Thrissur & Kannur 5 each, Pathanamthitta 4, Thiruvananthapuram 3; Kollam, Palakkad & Kasaragod 2 each, and Alappuzha, Kottayam & Wayanad 1 each.

 

The district-wise figures for the patients who tested negative are Thiruvananthapuram 441, Kollam 97, Pathanamthitta 100, Alappuzha 254, Kottayam 463, Idukki 49, Ernakulam 450, Thrissur 924, Palakkad 443, Malappuram 617, Kozhikode 782, Wayanad 111, Kannur 317 and Kasargod 101.

 

At present, there are 64,412 patients undergoing treatment while a total of 5,05,238 people have so far recovered from Covid in Kerala.

 

There are 3,14,752 persons in isolation across the state – 2,98,902 under home or institutional quarantine and 15,850 in hospitals. 1,489 people were admitted to the hospitals today.

 

Three places in Kottayam District and one in Pathanamthitta District were demarcated as hotspots (total four) while four areas were excluded. The total number of hotspots in the State remains at 556.
