5,032 confirmed with COVID-10 on Dec.8 in Kerala; 31 dead

COVID-19 has been confirmed for 5,032 people in Kerala on December 8. The district-wise break-up of the number of affected are Kottayam 695, Malappuram 694, Thrissur 625, Ernakulam 528, Kozhikode 451, Palakkad 328, Kollam 317, Wayanad 284, Thiruvananthapuram 272, Alappuzha 241, Pathanamthitta 238, Kannur 207, Kasaragod 79 and Idukki 73.

A total of 60,521 samples were tested during the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is 8.31. Routine sample, Sentinel sample, CBNAT, TRUNAT, POCT. PCR, RT A total of 67,02,885 samples have been sent for testing so far, including LAMP and antigen testing.

It has been confirmed today that 31 deaths in the last few days were due to COVID-19. Hashim (51) from Pangode, Thiruvananthapuram, Hanil Singh (53) from Karakonam, Gopinathan Nair (70) from Marayamuttam, Naseema Beevi (47) from Venjaramoodu, Bhargavan (70) from Karunagappally, Kollam, Raveendran (74) from Cherthala, Alappuzha, Ajitha (46) from Panavali, Thankachan (60) from Moolavattom, Kottayam, Chandrika (63) from Kanjirapally, Sundaresan (56) from Vaikom, Sabu (55) from Manarkad, Ambujam (59) from Meenachil, Basheer (56) from Vellore, Umaiba (55) from Idukki, Vimala Mary (79) from Kuruppadi, Ernakulam, NK Kunhappan (44) from Puthuvila, PP Vinod (49) from Ernakulam., Pareed Aliyar (80) from Thalakkod, Soufi Ummer (51) from Aluvannur, Ali (84) from Anthathodu, Thrissur, Ashraf (52) from North Kerala, Kalyani (70) from Kaiparambu Meenakshi (70) from Kiralur, Valiamma (87) from Edachery, Velayudhan (64) from Kottayam, Kumaran (68) from Aroor, Kozhikode, Raghavan (75) from Pooladikunnu, Iyyathumma (63) from Thachampoil, Muhammad Basheer (67) from Mankavu and KA Manuel (68) from Kadalmad, Wayanad and Janaki (85) from Neeleswaram, Kasargod were confirmed with COVID-19. This brings the total death toll to 2,472. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.

Ninety-eight of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the State; 4,380 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 517 is not clear. Kottayam 694, Malappuram 653, Thrissur 592, Ernakulam 415, Kozhikode 412, Palakkad 160, Kollam 315, Wayanad 269, Thiruvananthapuram 169, Alappuzha 226, Pathanamthitta 171, Kannur 178, Kasaragod 77 and Idukki 49 were affected by the disease.

Thirty-seven health workers were affected. Health workers in Thrissur, Kannur 7 each, Thiruvananthapuram 6, Ernakulam, Wayanad 5 each, Kozhikode 3, Pathanamthitta and Palakkad 2 each were affected.

The test results of 4,735 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 350, Kollam 269, Pathanamthitta 159, Alappuzha 361, Kottayam 460, Idukki 72, Ernakulam 403, Thrissur 700, Palakkad 383, Malappuram 719, Kozhikode 421, Wayanad 125, Kannur 158 and Kasaragod 155 had negative results today. With this, 59,732 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 5,82,351 people have so far been freed from COVID-19.

There are currently 3,10,345 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 2,96,204 are under home / institutional quarantine and 14,141 in hospitals. A total of 1,273 people were admitted to hospitals.
There is a new hot spot which is Karimpuzha (Cantonment Zone Sub Ward 14) in Palakkad district and eight areas have been excluded from the hotspot. With this, there are a total of 441 hotspots.
