4,470 confirmed with COVID-19 in Kerala on Dec.10; 26 dead

COVID-19 has been confirmed for 4,470 people in Kerala on December 10. The district-wise break-up of the number of infected are Malappuram 700, Kozhikode 578, Ernakulam 555, Thrissur 393, Kottayam 346, Kollam 305, Alappuzha 289, Thiruvananthapuram 282, Palakkad 212, Idukki 200, Pathanamthitta 200, Kannur 186, Wayanad 114 and Kasaragod 110.
A total of 52,769 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is 8.47. Routine sample, Sentinel sample, CBNAT, TRUNAT, POCT. PCR, RT A total of 68,08,399 samples have so far been sent for testing, including LAMP and antigen testing.

Twenty-six deaths in the last few days have been confirmed as due to COVID-19. The deaths of Raghunathan Pillai (75) from Vattapara, Thiruvananthapuram, Rajula Beevi (59) from Chala, Sasidharan Nair (71) from Punnamugal, Sindhyakumari (56) from Ooruthambalam, Babu (59) from Karikode, Kollam, Sheela (59) from Thellakam, Kottayam, Bhaskaran (65) from Vengur, Ernakulam, Antony (70) from Chellanam, Kunjumuhammed (74) from Chengamanadu, Sivaraman (56) from Chalakudy, Thrissur, Philip (63) from Mundur, Sukumaran (80) from Cherp, Aruchami (61) from Thiruvalathur, Palakkad, Subaida (55) from Kottayam, Chittoor, Aruchami Gowda (80) from Pattambi, Aboobacker (62) from Pattipuram, KV Hariharan (82) from Pallipuram, Haridasan (67) from Olavakkode, Achumma (90) from Malappuram Valluvampram, Mohammad (53) from Manjeri, Mohammad Musthafa (51) from Talakad, Radha (69) from Chenoli, Kozhikode, Aboobacker (80) from Kattipara, Prasad (40) from Koottoli, Krishnan (75) from Cheruparambu, Kannur and Baby Suresh (76) from Thillankeri were confirmed. This brings the total death toll to 2,533. Further deaths will be confirmed after NIV testing in Alappuzha.

Seventy-seven of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the State and 3,858 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 498 is not clear. Malappuram 647, Kozhikode 549, Ernakulam 447, Thrissur 378, Kottayam 321, Kollam 298, Alappuzha 279, Thiruvananthapuram 183, Palakkad 88, Idukki 174, Pathanamthitta 131, Kannur 151, Wayanad 108 and Kasaragod 104 were affected by the disease.

Thirty-seven health workers were affected. Health workers in Kannur 7, Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur 6, Ernakulam 4, Kollam, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kasaragod 3 each, Kottayam and Idukki one each were affected.

The test results of 4,847 people who were diagnosed and treated were negative. Thiruvananthapuram 302, Kollam 280, Pathanamthitta 183, Alappuzha 208, Kottayam 312, Idukki 121, Ernakulam 649, Thrissur 638, Palakkad 263, Malappuram 680, Kozhikode 650, Wayanad 115, Kannur 292 and Kasaragod 154 tested negative today. With this, 59,517 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 5,91,845 have so far been freed from COVID-19.

There are currently 3,16,491 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 3,02,567 are under home / institutional quarantine and 13,924 in hospitals. A total of 1,278 people were admitted to hospitals.
There are two new hotspots. The new hotspots are Mariapuram in Idukki district (Cantonment zone ward 13) and Thottapuzhassery (sub ward 5) in Pathanamthitta district. An area has been excluded from the hotspot. With this, there are a total of 441 hotspots.
